What Is a Registered Psychologist?

A Registered Psychologist has completed a minimum of six years of accredited study and supervised practice, and holds full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA). They practise independently and are qualified to provide psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions.

Our Registered Psychologists use proven therapeutic approaches — including CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy and EMDR — tailored to each client’s individual needs and goals.

Note: Clinical Psychologists are also Registered Psychologists, with additional specialist postgraduate training. Not sure which is right for you? Call us on 1300 224 665.

Frequently Asked Questions

No referral is required to book. However, to claim Medicare rebates under the Better Access scheme, you’ll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from your GP or psychiatrist before your first session.

Both are AHPRA-registered and provide evidence-based care. Clinical Psychologists have completed additional postgraduate training (a Master’s or Doctorate in clinical psychology) and are suited to more complex or chronic presentations. They also attract a higher Medicare rebate per session. Not sure which is right for you? Call us on 1300 224 665.

Yes. Registered Psychologists are qualified to assess and diagnose a range of mental health conditions and provide evidence-based psychological treatment.

Under the Better Access scheme, you can access up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year with a Medicare rebate. Your GP refers you for an initial 6, with up to 4 more after a mid-year review.

You can still book and attend — private fees apply without the Medicare rebate. See our pricing →
