“I have been a client of The Talk Shop for several months now and the experience has been exceptional. Cindy at reception has been friendly, efficient and actually caring from day one—she chased every query, kept me updated when my jobs insurer dragged their heels, and ensured that my treatment was not disrupted. it’s rare to find admin staff who care this much. Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a GP referral to book an appointment?

No. You can book directly without a GP referral. A Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP is required only to access Medicare bulk billing rebates.

What’s the difference between a Registered, Provisional and Clinical Psychologist?

Registered Psychologists have completed a minimum of six years of training and are AHPRA-registered. Clinical Psychologists have completed additional specialist training (minimum eight years) and treat more complex presentations. Provisional Psychologists are completing their supervised internship year — they provide the same evidence-based therapy at a reduced cost. All our practitioners are registered or provisionally registered with AHPRA.

Is Medicare bulk billing available?

Yes. Bulk billing is available for telehealth sessions with a GP Mental Health Care Plan. Please note our bulk-billed daytime weekday telehealth sessions currently have a waitlist. Private fee-paying sessions are available from $50 with no waiting.

Do you accept NDIS, WorkCover, TAC or DVA?

Yes — we accept all major funding schemes including NDIS, WorkCover, TAC, DVA and FAS (formerly VOCAT). Eligible clients may access sessions at no out-of-pocket cost.

How do I make an appointment?

Book online via our portal, or call 1300 224 665. Our team will match you with the right psychologist for your needs and funding type.

How much does a psychologist cost at The Talk Shop?

Private sessions with a provisional psychologist start from $50. Fees vary depending on your psychologist’s registration level and experience. Medicare bulk-billed Telehealth sessions are available with a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, though availability is limited. NDIS, WorkCover, TAC, DVA and FAS-funded sessions are fully covered for eligible clients. Call us on 1300 224 665 for current pricing and availability.

Do you offer Telehealth psychology sessions?
