How to Access Medicare Psychology

Here is what to do to access Medicare-rebated psychology at The Talk Shop:

Book a GP Appointment

Contact your GP and book a longer appointment (usually 20-40 minutes). Let them know you would like a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) for a psychology referral.

Get Your Mental Health Treatment Plan

Your GP prepares your MHTP and a referral addressed to The Talk Shop specifically. This is required for Medicare billing. Ask your GP to email or print the referral for you to bring.

Contact Us β€” We Make It Easy

Call us on 1300 224 665 or use our online form. To confirm your appointment we will ask for a few details upfront:

  • Medicare card number & individual reference number
  • Medicare card expiry date

You will also need to provide your referral letter and/or Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP before your appointment. You can email these to reception@thetalkshop.com.au.

Attend Your Session

Pay the full session fee at the time of your appointment. The Medicare rebate is processed immediately and refunded to your nominated bank account β€” usually within 24-48 hours via online Medicare claiming.
