Shweta Balasubramanian

Provisional Psychologist at Melbourne CBD

"Creating a safe space where healing begins"

Hi, I’m Shweta – a Provisional Psychologist joining The Talk Shop.

I bring five years of clinical experience from ElementH Psychological Support Services in Chennai, India, where I provided comprehensive psychological support to diverse client populations. My academic foundation includes an MPhil in Clinical Psychology and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, and I’m currently working towards general registration in Australia under principal supervision.

My approach centres on creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard and understood. I draw on evidence-based techniques tailored to each person’s unique needs, whether they’re navigating anxiety, depression, or more complex emotional challenges. I have a particular interest in working with young people and value the transformative potential of authentic therapeutic relationships.

I believe strongly in the power of teamwork – both between therapist and client, and within the broader care network. Having worked extensively with South Asian communities, I understand how cultural context shapes mental health and am sensitive to the unique challenges faced by culturally diverse families. My Tamil language skills allow me to connect meaningfully with clients from South Asian backgrounds.
