Lloyd Murphy

Provisional Psychologist at Reservoir

I am an AHPRA-registered Provisional Psychologist currently completing the Master of Professional Psychology at Monash University. Prior to training as a psychologist, I worked for over ten years in the community legal assistance sector, supporting people experiencing a range of personal and systemic challenges. This experience strengthened my understanding of the ways mental health difficulties, discrimination, financial stress, and life transitions can impact wellbeing.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, self-esteem concerns, and adjustment to life changes. I have a particular interest in supporting LGBTQIA+ clients, neurodivergent individuals, and those navigating body image concerns, eating disorders, identity development, and minority stress.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental. I aim to create a safe and affirming space where clients can better understand themselves, develop practical coping strategies, and work towards meaningful change. My work is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a growing interest in Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

I bring both professional knowledge and personal insight into LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent experiences and strive to provide an inclusive, weight-inclusive, and neurodiversity-affirming environment for clients of all identities, backgrounds, and body sizes.
