Shirlene Jayasundera

Shirlene Jayasundera is a qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist with 23 years of experience working within both public and private mental health services in Victoria. She has Clinical Psychology endorsement with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a registered supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia. Shirlene completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Melbourne in 1997. She also has a Bachelor of Applied Science (co-major in Psychology and Psychophysiology), an Honours degree in Arts and Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training from Swinburne University, Hawthorn. Shirlene is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Shirlene is an extremely competent Cognitive Behaviour Therapy practitioner specialising in the assessment and treatment of a variety of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, stress, serious mental illness including first episode psychosis, trauma and PTSD, grief/loss issues, self-esteem issues, relationship issues and chronic health conditions. She also has an interest in the assessment and treatment of Gender Dysphoria and sexual dysfunction and has an expertise in the formulating of reports for Court and other purposes. Shirlene is also trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness-based CBT and Core Conflict Relationship Therapy, working eclectically drawing on these therapies as required. She is comfortable working with older adolescents, young people, adults, couples and families and is also an experienced trainer, group facilitator and supervisor.

Shirlene is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Sinhala and Sri Lankan culture.
