Michael Susman

Michael is a Registered Psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science. Michael completed a Bachelor and Honours degree in psychology at Deakin University and is currently completing a masters in clinical psychology at RMIT, as well as a PhD in psychology at the University of Melbourne. He also spent time training and volunteering with Lifeline in telephone counselling and suicide intervention. He previously developed and presented mental health wellbeing training programs for members of the Victoria Police.

As a psychologist, Michael takes a person-centred approach to therapy. This means that he uses empathy and a focus on individuals as unique to find the tools most valuable to each person. Michael works with adults on a range of issues, including stress, depression, anxiety, adjustment problems, grief, chronic pain and more.

Michael has training in a number of therapeutic styles, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and these are integrated to best support the individual in working towards goals that are important to them. Michael has a non-judgmental focus in therapy and has experience with clients from diverse backgrounds and marginalised communities in both telehealth and face-to-face settings.
