Lucas did the majority of his study at Deakin University, but he also lived in Japan where he studied cross-cultural Psychology at Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka. While otherwise based in Melbourne, he spent the majority of his Clinical Masters in a small town in Queensland where he researched with indigenous youth living in rural areas. This research has been accepted to be presented at the International Congress of Psychology 2020, but will likely be delayed until 2021.
Previously, Lucas has worked in University Clinics (Counselling Services) where he has specialised in student and cross-cultural psychology. He is frequently working with international students.
Lucas has worked in private organisations in Adeliade specialising in Alcohol and Other Drug treatments, and with the victorian organisation, Yooralla, working with disabilities.
Currently, Lucas is in his fifth year of teaching at Deakin University where he applies his clinical knowledge and experience in delivering classes and lectures. He is also contributing to the foundations of new cross-cultural units at Deakin and the integration of more cross-cultural elements to current units.
