Leonie Bessant

Leonie is a Registered Psychologist who studied Community Psychology at Victoria University, here in Melbourne.

Leonie’s practice embraces Community Psychology values which seek to understand the social, cultural and ecological factors that contribute to stress, distress and trauma. Community psychology values respect for cultural and human diversity and facilitate individual, family and community empowerment and participation.

Leonie has provided mental health and well-being support to individuals across the life span, groups, older people and people experiencing housing distress.

Psychological therapies and techniques Leonie has experience using include cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative and art therapies, solutions-focused, strengths-based and trauma-informed therapies.
