Kristel is a registered psychologist with a background in Organisational Psychology. She is currently undertaking further studies in Clinical Psychology, and is particularly passionate about early intervention and helping clients to develop the skills to overcome personal challenges and live a fulfilling life.
Kristel has experience in treating a range of issues – including depression, anxiety, stress, OCD, deliberate self-harm behaviours, work-related issues, interpersonal issues and conflict, bullying and harassment, psychological impacts of physical injury/illness, grief and loss, low self-esteem, adjustment issues and emotional dysregulation. Kristel is also skilled in vocational and career counselling, to assist individuals who may be in the midst of a career transition, or feeling confused about their career direction.
Kristel was born in Singapore, grew up in Western Australia and relocated to Victoria a few years ago. She has worked with clients in corporate, occupational rehabilitation, school and private practice settings and greatly enjoys working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Kristel has a particular interest in supporting older children, adolescents and young adults, but also works with adult clients.
Kristel believes in working collaboratively with her clients, and empowering them to manage the challenges they are facing in their lives. She values client feedback, and endeavours to create a safe, warm and down-to-earth environment where clients feel comfortable to explore their concerns.
Kristel draws on therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution focussed therapy (SFBT) and schema therapy.
