Therapeutic Approach

Joanna is and warm and insightful clinician who values genuine connection with her clients. Joanna believes that as humans we all have an innate need to feel safe, heard, to understand our internal experience, to belong, connect, and to foster a strong and unique sense of self. Joanna enjoys assisting clients to build valued and meaningful lives where these core needs are met, and where they can move away from patterns of thinking and behaving that reduce opportunities for growth and joy. Joanna is an LGBTI-friendly clinician.

Joanna predominantly uses a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy framework, and within this calls on aspects of many other evidence based therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT), Schema Therapy, Motivation Interviewing (MI) and Meta Cognitive Therapy (MCT).

Specialty Areas

Joanna specialises in the treatment of anxiety including Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), generalised anxiety and worry, as well as skin picking, hair pulling and hoarding behaviours.

Joanna is available pm a Wednesday at the Little Collins Street CBD office.
