Jessica is a registered psychologist with AHPRA, after completing her Masters degree at Australian Catholic University. Jessica also graduated with First Class Honours from RMIT University, and completed her Bachelor degree at Deakin University. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and the Psychology of Eating, Weight, and Body Image interest group (PEWBig). Jessica is passionate about her work, and enjoys working with clients of differing age, cultural background, and with diverse presenting issues.
Jessica is experienced in treating a range of mental health difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, stress, sleeping difficulties, anger management problems, and drug and/or alcohol addiction. She has also worked with parents of children who present with behavioural difficulties.
One of Jessica’s main interests, however, is working with clients with eating disorders and other eating issues (e.g. Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia Nervosa, overeating). Jessica understands that eating difficulties and body image concerns are common in many, and encourages those suffering from such difficulties to seek the support that they need.
Jessica also has experience working with clients with an intellectual disability, personality disorders, and paraphillic disorders, such as pedophilia. Jessica enjoys conducting assessments, such as cognitive, educational, neuropsychological, and risk assessments.
Jessica prides herself on using evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also uses techniques such as assertiveness training and motivational interviewing. Her approach is essentially client-centered, and she likes to provide supportive therapy, where the client is heard and feels listened to, but is also given strategies where necessary to assist in their recovery.
Jessica is available on Thursdays at the Reservoir office.
