Jan-Louise is a registered psychologist with post graduate qualifications in both organisational psychology and counselling psychology. Her work experience reflects a dual career within counselling and business having worked within consulting, rehabilitation, health, education, human resources, aged care and not for profit environments. Part of Jan-Louise’s experience has involved working with organisations to promote psychologically healthy workplaces as well as the facilitation of professional development and mental health programs.
In conjunction with her work at The Talk Shop, Jan-Louise works as a senior counsellor at Monash University. In this context, Jan-Louise supports staff and students managing life, study, relationship and family issues. Additionally, her doctoral thesis explored the lived experience of adolescent sibling bereavement and its impact on adolescent development, therefore, she holds a strong interest in working with grief, loss and life-stage transitions.
Jan-Louise adopts a person-centered approach when working with clients. She has worked with individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, motivational and workplace issues. Jan-Louise has experience using a range of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness and approaches informed by schema therapy.
